The Hustle

The Hustle are the latest band to come bursting out of the south Wales music scene, and like we’ve discovered from a lot of other bands hailing from that area they are pretty darn good. These five lads quickly caught the eye of BBC Radio and XFM in their home country. The Hustle are a very talented young band who will have you dancing as soon as they play their first beat. We can’t wait to hear more from them and with an album on the way we shouldn’t have long to wait at all. Keep up the good work lads!

A Broken Robot

A Broken Robot are an impendent pop band from Southend-On-Sea, which is not somewhere which is normal associated with good music, but this four-piece are hoping to put it on the UK’s musical map. The band formed while they were at college and played their first show in February 2007 instantly winning over the crowd. The band have gone on to build up a loyal fanbase in their local area and have played shows across the UK with the likes of I Was A Cub Scout and Furthest Drive Home. Their honest lyrical slant is compelling, but one of the things we love most about these guys is their use of cowbells!

Between The Trees

Orlando five piece Between The Trees have been around for nearly three years. The band originally started out as a trio before adding two more members to become the group we see before us today. Although still relatively unknown in the UK the band have already played at Download Festival and toured with Kids In Glasshouses. Back home in the States they’ve played on Warped Tour and are signed to the label Universal Motown. These five talented kids are definitely worth keeping an eye on.

Las Pistolas

You may recognise frontman Ben and bassist Steve from a little band called Uncle Brian, who toured the UK with the likes of Bowling For Soup, Spunge and Wheatus, their UB days might be over but those two are still out there making some killer tunes. Joined by a talented drummer, these three lads are hoping to set your hearts on fire with their blend of Rockabilly. Look out for Las Pistolas playing at a venue near you… you won’t want to miss them.

Orange Avenue

Daytona rockers Orange Avenue have been impressing the crowds at Universal CityWalk, Orlando for well over a year and have become a firm favourite amongst the young and the old. They perform at CityWalk several times a week and always have plenty of local fans there for support, but they also grab the attention of tourists as their music rings out pitch perfectly from the speakers. In 2006 the Orange Avenue boys went into the studio armed with over 100 songs to record their self-titled debut album (available now) which features 12 original songs. Orange Avenue have already taken Florida by storm and as the word spreads about these guys they’re only going to become more successful.

Ché

Their name is short and sweet, their music is fun, catchy and upbeat.  From the sound of their promo CD it’s safe to say that these youngster from Worcester have long and successful music career ahead of them.

The real highlight and selling point of Ché’s music is singer Lydia Papahhilippopoulos, her voice is beautiful, it has a lovely tone and she has been blessed with a great range.  As soon as their music starts playing it makes you tap your toes and nod your head, if it played in a club you would find it hard to resist throwing some shapes on the dance floor.

Ché can easily rival their US counterparts Paramore, and just like Paramore more frontwoman Hayley, Ché’s Lydia gives the guys something to droll over and the girls someone to admire and look up to.  Ché are on tour now, you’d be a fool not to check them out.

The Black Cats

This talented trio of teenagers used to back up Al Krivoy who has played bass guitar for the legendary Chuck Berry.  Fans used to flock in to watch the show, but it soon became clear that it wasn't Al causing a stir it was the talented kids behind him, who became the talk of the Michigan music scene. It didn't take long for the band said goodbye to Al and head to Europe where they toured pretty much constantly for the next six months.  The Black Cats provide a refreshing break from the swarms of Emo bands that are coming out, and they have the potential to make Rockabilly popular with the kids of today.  It’s time to dig out some brothel creepers and comb your hair into a quiff!

Miss Conduct

Women in punk rock bands are few and far between but those who are either end up destroying themselves or are too nice for their own good, but now someone has stepped in to fill the void.  Charismatic Kim Waterson fronts Miss Conduct.  The Welsh punk rockers are hardly new to the scene, the quintet are spawned from Then Came Bronson.  A line up and name change later they have become a highly promising act.  They caught the eye of Visible Noise, home of the Lost Prophets and Bullet For My Valentine, which is a big sign that they are doing something right.  Definitely a band to watch.

Kill Casino

London trio Kill Casino are one of those rare treasures that are hidden in the murky depths of the UK music scene.  Their unique sound has already won them an army of followers and their video for ‘Stolen Eyes’ is creeping its way up the YouTube video chart.  With Gwen Stefani leaving her punk roots behind her to move into the shiny, plastic world of pop vocalist and bass guitarist Karen Luan looks set to take her place as the first lady of rock.
